Master Bedroom

Our master bedroom is one of my favorite rooms in our house. It’s super tiny, but that makes it feel really cozy. Our king size bed fits and that’s all I really cared about!

Renovations in here were super simple, as most bedrooms are since there isn’t much to them. Below is a quick list of all the changes we made!

As for designing this room, I wanted to keep things neutral to go with the rest of our house. I love when one room just cohesively flows into the next style-wise. The first piece I found for our room was the rug (from Wayfair linked below, we have an 8 x 10 size) and everything else was chosen with it in mind. When you find something you love, roll with it! I added some navy blue euro shams to tie the blue from the rug into the bedding. When I use an accent color I don’t like to go overboard with it since I like a more neutral color palette. Just a touch of color here and there, usually only one or two things. Everything else is just different shades of grey and beige since those two colors are neutral and in the rug as well. The main thing I loved about this rug was that there are a few different shades of blue – some dark navy blue, some royal blue and some shades in between, so it made matching blue pillows super easy. Matching colors exactly can be tricky!

My favorite thing in our room is the chunky knit throw. My mom hand knitted the it for me as a gift and I love it so much! It’s just the perfect finishing touch to a cozy bed you just want to lay in all day! If you’re looking for a DIY project or thoughtful gift for someone, give hand knitting a chunky knit blanket a go! Anyways, I since the rug is such a bold pattern, I wanted to keep the bedding simple. I much prefer mixing textures of solid colors rather than mixing patterns.

What we did

  • New paint, flooring, door, closet doors, hardware and trim.
  • Sanded down the wood on the window frame and painted it white.
  • Installed ceiling fan.
